what should I focus my studies on when preparing for intro to organic chemistry?
Friday, November 21st, 2008nova asked:
I will be taking “introduction to organic chemistry” in two weeks. I hear that it is a very hard class and would like to read through some of the chapters to prepare. Specifically what aspect of organic chemistry should I focus on most? What will most likely help me to succeed in this class? Tips?
help is appreciated!

Suggest an explanation for the fact that 1-methylcyclopropene is some 42 kJ/mol less stable than methylenecyclopropane.

I don’t understand what this homework problem is asking and I’m totally confused. I had everything until I stumbled upon this question. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I need a book that has pretty difficult organic chemistry problems. Suggestions?

I am struggling in organic chemistry. I am spending a lot of time on it, and I feel that I am understanding the material quite well. However, I found the questions on the exam extremeley hard. I did all the problems in my textbook, but didn’t help. They are much easier. So I am wondering if you guys can suggest me a book that has pretty difficult organic chemistry problems. I need more practice. Thanks.

Why do they teach inorganic/organic chemistry like they do?
Friday, November 21st, 2008juju_chop asked:
Serious, for those people that have had organic chemistry, isn’t it ridiculous on how much they stuff in one semester? Shouldn’t they break it up in 3 sections? Or how about inorganic?!!? How in the heck can you know what is going on in inorganic with having no knowledge of organic chemistry? Personally, i feel organic and inorganic should taught as one, but broken up into sections.

How can I get a good grade in Organic Chemistry?
Friday, November 21st, 2008Megbee asked:
I’m taking organic chemistry this semester as a requirement for my BS in biology. I obviously passed general chemistry, but I’m still worried about this class. I’ve heard horrible stories about kids failing with 30-averages and having to withdraw. I also heard that it’s particularly difficult at my college. The whole chemistry dept. pretty much sucks. What can I do and how should I study for this class? What are some of the easier and more difficult things we’ll cover and what should I do for outside work/studying?
