So, I search Chemistry major and I found out that there is this specific major- Organic Chemistry- but only few schools have it. I just wanna know the difference between the two majors. Isn’t even i take a chemistry major I’ll still get the chance to decide which field of chemistry I will specialized into?

Major in Chemistry will require you to take general chem, organic chem, physical chem, inorganic chem, biochem, analytical chem,in both lab and lectures. I would think major in Organic Chem wouldn’t require u to take anything outside of Organic Chem (which can get really deep) and let you pick other as elective.

An emphasis in organic chemistry maybe they offer more organic chem perhaps never heard of schools having organic chem perhaps never heard of schools having organic chemistry classes than typical college.
