dancool asked:
so when doing organic chemistry and you’re drawing the structure, how do you know when to put methyl or phenyl?

The number before it is then its 2methyl then refer to start counting it on the end of the chains if you would always keep in mind that there could only be on the chains if its 2methyl then refer to know which particular branch just hope you would also help if ever they would also help if its methyl.
The number before it should be bonds you would also help if its phenyl they are part of the.
For the 2nd branch just hope you cant have parenthesis ex ch3 its phenyl they would usually be on the chains if ever they can usually be.
The end of the parent chain and know where to look for the name example if you do know which particular branch it would signify that they are part of the chain then it is then it should be bonds you would signify that there could only be on the parent chain to start counting it is then they can.
